Source Material Studio presents LIT SERVICE 001, a pamphlet of poetry commissioned by the public and written by Gervase Gordon.
Lit Service is a project by writer and producer Gervase Gordon. He writes poems to order on a 1970s Japanese Brother Deluxe typewriter, setting up at events and markets from the Sherborne artisan market to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, inviting anyone who stops to commission a poem and pay what they like.
LIT SERVICE 001 collects a selection of those commissions. Each poem began as a request from a stranger, written on the spot. Wives, pets, and the joy of dancing; the collection is a record of what people asked for, and what resulted.
The zine runs to eight pages, staple bound, and arrives in a striped paper bag, the same kind Gordon uses to deliver poems to his customers.
